Clint Sargent, founding member and lead guitarist of The High Violets, formed the band in 2018. Sargent wrote songs and in collaboration with Collin Hegna (Federale, Brian Jonestown Massacre) produced True Primitives debut album Revolutions, hailed as sexy, groovy gaze with heavy pulsating bass lines, shimmering guitar, skyscraper riffs, dramatic breaks, psychedelic guitar solos and textured electronic sounds.
Their second release, Rise, finds Portland, Oregon’s True Primitives pushing deeper in their sonic journey with a vast auditory panorama of tightly crafted melodic songs that use signature delayed distortions and dense soundscapes delivered with powerful and distinctive groove-driven shoegaze, pulsing beats, textured guitars and psychedelic breaks.
